his BFA in Film Animation from Concordia University and
graduated as the valedictorian of the faculty of fine arts.
He makes films and video games with heart. His
projects have been presented in festivals internationally
including the Montreal World Film Festival and IndieCade.
Currently, Hamish is working on an experimental game.
What part of Canada are you from
I grew up in Halifax, Nova Scotia, but have been living in
Montreal for the past 4 years.
What inspired you to create animation?
All sorts of things in my childhood. The two most obvious
being that I always watched cartoons and I always doodled.
One day, when I was 12 or so, I saw my friend using Flash and
I got REALLY excited and instantly understood the basic
interface. I got my hands on it as soon as I could and I’ve
been animating ever since.
How would you describe your artistic
Lately I’ve been drawing things flat, with flat colours,
simple shapes, pretty gooey, no contour lines.

What role do you play in the creation of animation?
Going through animation film school I’ve tried a bit of it
all: Directing, animating, storyboarding, designing, voice
acting, editing, compositing, modelling, lighting, recording,
mixing, cinematography, and so on. Right now I mostly direct,
design, and animate.
What is one project that you are proud to have been

for about a year. It was really exciting being in that studio

I’m making an experimental game but it’s pretty secret right
